Nichita Catarau, a fourth-year bachelor’s student of Geodetic Engineering and Cadastre at the Technical University of Moldova in Chi?inău, recently completed a semester study stay at the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague through the Erasmus+ KA171 program.
During his time in Prague, Nichita expanded his academic expertise in geology, meteorology, and geoinformation systems, gaining hands-on experience with modern tools and practical applications relevant to sustainable land surveying under a supervision of prof. Vera Potopová. A key highlight was his participation in a COP21 climate change simulation, which offered valuable insight into the complexities of international climate negotiations.
Nichita also appreciated the university’s welcoming academic environment and its strong emphasis on interdisciplinary collaboration and applied learning. Beyond the classroom, he was inspired by Prague’s rich history, architecture, and cultural life.
As he enters his final year of studies, at his home university, Nichita plans to apply the knowledge and skills gained during his exchange to strengthen his bachelor ’s thesis, particularly in the area of climate-resilient and sustainable land planning.
