International Interns at the Department of Food Science

We’re very happy to welcome two new interns, orozabal and Jon Millan, who will be joining us over the coming months. We’re excited to have them on board and look forward to working together! Leire holds a degree in Human Nutrition and Dietetics from the University of the Basque Country and completed an internship at BLOS Lda. (Lisbon), where she worked as a nutritionist and gained experience in food quality control for local businesses. She later completed a Master’s in Food Technology and Safety at CEMP (Centre for European Master's Programme) and has spent the past year working as a Food Quality and Safety Consultant at Eurofins Análisis Alimentario Bilbao. During her internship with us, Leire will focus on bridging nutrition, dietary patterns, and food safety with our ongoing metabolomics and NMR-based research. Jon studied Chemistry, followed by a Master’s in Food Quality and Safety, specializing in analytical chemistry. His final degree project focused on hair analysis in forensic science, and he has also completed an internship in a winery quality control laboratory, gaining hands-on experience in analytical and quality workflows. In our lab, Jon will support analytical and experimental work, contributing his strong chemistry background to food quality and metabolomics-related research.
