Application for long-term residence permit
If you are not a citizen of the EU, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway or Switzerland, please apply on time for long-term residence permit at the Czech Embassy in your country. To obtain long-term residence permit, it can easily take 3 months or more.
The list of Embassies of the Czech Republic is available here:
The list of documents required for long-term residence permit is available on the website of the Ministry of Interior of the Czech Republic here and also on the website of the relevant Embassy. Please read both websites carefully as some Embassies may have specific requirements and some of the documents may take you longer to obtain.
Applicants who fulfil certain criteria (e.g. high level of knowledge demonstrated during entrance examination, completion of previous studies in fewer than 3 years) can be nominated to “Regime student” (also called Student Facilitation Programme) which is a fast-track procedure for you to obtain a visa appointment at the Embassy. This means that you do not apply for visa appointment at the Embassy yourself anymore.
By the time we nominate you to Regime student, you need to have ready all originals of documents required for visa interview at the Embassy otherwise the whole process of your application for long-term residence permit could be delayed. Please make sure you are familiar with information about the Czech Republic, our University and faculty, your selected study programme and your motivation to study in Prague before you attend an interview at the Embassy.
