2. Evaluation of your foreign education – 2nd phase of admission procedure

Applicants who do not provide the Certificate of Recognition of foreign secondary/higher education and qualification in the Czech Republic in their application will be nominated for 2nd phase of Admission procedure (evaluation of their foreign education at CZU).

The list of documents which need to be submitted for evaluation is available here: https://www.czu.cz/en/r-9188-study/r-9254-recognition-of-foreign-education/r-17071-internal-evaluation-of-foreign-education-within-the-admission-procedure/foreign-education-evaluation.html

You will need to get the originals of your Diploma and Transcript of records authenticated – this means either super-legalised, apostilled or just notarized. The type of appropriate authentication depends on the country in which your Diploma and Transcript were issued. The process of authentication of documents can take several weeks so we highly recommend that you start this process as soon as possible.

The list of countries and the type of required authentication is available on https://www.czu.cz/en/r-9188-study/r-9254-recognition-of-foreign-education/r-17071-internal-evaluation-of-foreign-education-within-the-admission-procedure/authentication-of-documents.html

The usual steps in authentication of documents are as follows (although these can vary in particular countries):

  1. You need to authenticate the original Diploma and Transcript of records in accordance with the relevant International Agreement (Apostille or Super-legalisation by Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country where documents were issued and by Czech Embassy in that country).
  2. You need to visit the public notary to make the notary verified copies of authenticated Diploma and Transcript of records in such a way that:
    • each page with information contains stamp from notary / responsible officer OR
    • true (certified)/notarized copies of your documents are joined together in such way that it makes impossible to subsequently replace or substitute the pages and the last page contains stamp from notary.

Please note that true (certified) / notarized copies that are joined together just by stapler without notary stamp on each page containing information are not accepted! We recommend submitting notary verified copies as the original documents can get lost by post.

  1. If your documents are not issued in English, Czech or Slovak, you need to visit certified translator to translate the notary verified copies into Czech or English and to officially append the translation to the notary verified copies. In that way, the notary stamp is translated as well and original documents are not damaged by the attachment.

You can send the scan or photo of translated notary verified copies via email for pre-approval, but at the end, you need to send the required documents together with the application form by registered post (e.g. DHL).

6. Apply for long-term residence permit

If you are not a citizen of the EU, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway or Switzerland, please apply on time for long-term residence permit at the Czech Embassy in your country. To obtain long-term residence permit, it can easily take 3 months or more.

The list of Embassies of the Czech Republic is available here: https://www.mzv.cz/jnp/en/diplomatic_missions/czech_missions_abroad/index.html

The list of documents required for long-term residence permit is available on the website of the Ministry of Interior of the Czech Republic on https://www.mvcr.cz/mvcren/article/third-country-nationals-third-country-nationals.aspx and also on the website of the relevant Embassy. Please read both websites carefully as some Embassies may have specific requirements and some of the documents may take you longer to obtain.

We can assist you with nominating you to “Regime student” (also called Student Facilitation Programme) which is a fast-track procedure for you to obtain a visa appointment at the Embassy. This means that you do not apply for visa appointment at the Embassy yourself anymore. More information about Regime student including states involved in this programme can be found here.

By the time we nominate you to Regime student, you need to have ready all originals of documents required for visa interview at the Embassy otherwise the whole process of your application for long-term residence permit could be delayed. Please make sure you are familiar with information about the Czech Republic, our University and faculty, your selected study programme and your motivation to study in Prague before you attend an interview at the Embassy.
